I kept going back and forth on No or Yes, but with reservations. Read on to see why I picked the latter.....

The easy case (IMHO) is No, not a good permanent platform unless you are looking for a community that is or nears "social".

The surprising case is Yes, but for incubation! With several incubations under my belt, Facebook is great to get things going! It's there for a built-in audience, easily accessible, easy to invite/entice others, has been adding features that make it more collabortive than many other established platforms and once you decide on a permanent platform the Facebook community can be one of your social media's outpost for the future.
